Dubai Municipality on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Health and Safety Executive of Great Britain (HSE) to develop and extend knowledge in the occupational health and safety systems as well as support on regulations and their implementations.

The MoU was signed by Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Executive Director of Environment, Health and Safety Control Sector and Mike Day, HSE Commercial Director, the Health and Safety Executive of Great Britain.

Al Awadhi said that the continuous cooperation between the Municipality and local and international authorities to develop the practices applied in its sectors will contribute to the exchange of experience and knowledge especially in the field of health and safety to take advantage of the successful experiences of these organizations and highlight the opportunities to develop procedures in this area in order to provide services with the latest global standards.

He pointed out that the MoU, which is valid for three years, will provide opportunity to exchange information of mutual interest on regulatory activities, good occupational safety and health practices, mutual visits and participation of staff and experts in conferences, symposia, seminars and events that contribute to enriching knowledge in this field and joint funding of agreed researches.

Day expressed his pleasure on the cooperation with Dubai Municipality, stressing that the MoU comes within the framework of HSE’s plans to share its expertise and experiences with the different cities of the world.

He hoped that this cooperation will generate tangible solutions to the issues related to health and safety, especially regarding formulation of regulations and legislations.
