Bollywood actor, Esha Deol Takhtani is all set to make a comeback after a short hiatus with a Hindi short film titled Cakewalk. The 22-minute-long movie is directed and written by journalist and Hema Malini’s biographer Ram Kamal Mukherjee. The director and actor duo were in Dubai at the Holiday Inn Barsha to discuss details about the movie.

Esha plays Shilpa Sen, a woman struggling with the curveballs that life is throwing at her and tries to find her own footing in a world full of challenging situations. The movie takes you through Shilpa’s journey and her life.

Commenting on the movie, Esha said, “Ram and I have great a chemistry and known each other for years. He was one of the first journalists who interviewed me when I started out. Cakewalk has been shot like a film, in terms of scale and look. The only difference was that the span of my shooting was shorter. Playing a chef was new to me but one of my close childhood friends, Chinu, is a very famous chef in Mumbai. I wanted the chef’s beret and not the straight one because I have always liked that”.

“I am excited to be a part of Cakewalk and can’t wait for it to hit the screens. It is extremely special to me since this is my first movie after my daughter was born. Bringing good movies to the audience is a priority and I believe the script by Ram and direction by both Ram and Abhra Chakraborty will touch the hearts of the audience”, Esha added.

On promoting the movie in Dubai, director Ram Kamal Mukherjee, said, “Choosing Dubai to promote Cakewalk was always something we wanted to do. Most Bollywood directors come to Dubai and choose to promote their films here. It’s a great platform with a large audience and reach. Dubai and the UAE has a lot of Indians and bringing them good cinema is something we want to do”.

Speaking about the movie and casting Esha, Ram said, “It was not at all a cakewalk, but I knew that if Esha liked the script and the story she will want to be a part of the movie. I had a lot of brainstorming about the story and the entire entire script as we wanted it to be special for Esha’s comeback after marriage and motherhood. After she was convinced with the script, we began the process of getting everything finalized”.

Roxana Jaffer, CEO, Sovereign Hotels Dubai and Director, Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha, said, “We are grateful to the entire team of Cakewalk for choosing our hotel to speak about the movie to the UAE audience. Being an award-winning hotel in the culinary field Cakewalk and Esha’s role as a chef resonates with us. We wish the team great success”.
