Photography Contest and Seminar at Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam

Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam has conducted the photography contest and an exhibition which showcased the rare collection of 50 years’ history of the Kerala Malayalee Samajam. Wildlife photographer Nisha Purushothaman’s photography seminar and the talk by KK Moideen Koya on the subject camera’s insights were a delighting experience to viewers.

The meeting was presided by TA Nazer, President of Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam and Nibu Sam Philip General Secretary delivered the welcome speech. Muhsin, Senior Sales Supervisor addressed the meeting. MK Abdul Rahman, Gulf News Photographer and Naseer Pengad, Wild Life Photographer led the contest.

Mr Rashid Bayan won the photography contest, Mr Mayuk Manilal was the runner up and Mr Naushad Abdul Karim became second runner up. The drama ‘Erakal’ based on the famous photo of Kevin Carter was also performed in connection to the photography contest which garnered good attention especially due to its subject and performance.

Kevin Carter’s photograph was the rarest one in the history of photography which portraits the disaster brought about by starvation in its full intensity to the world. The content of the drama, starvation and the misuse of photography in this modern world, were well admired by the viewers.

The drama was written and directed by the Arts and Literature Secretary of the Samajam Mr K V Basheer. The members of the Sammajam Mr Rajesh Menon, MU Irshad, Ms Aparna Santhosh, Ms Shahidhani Vasu, Ajesh, Shifin, Subhash, Prabhu, Sajith, Aadhya and Karthik played the various roles.
