Born into a family of entrepreneurs, Pankaj Gupta is the Associate Director of SMC Comex International DMCC, a subsidiary of the award-winning SMC Global Group headquartered in India with an international presence in the UAE and the USA. Pankaj’s career trajectory originally took him into the IT world, but even during his time working in tech, he was always interested in derivative markets owing to his symbiotic networking with Financial Controllers and his education background in economics. His past experience prior to his shift into core finance includes being an SAP Consultant in California USA, DGM Operations for Medical Transcription Company in Delhi-India, a GM (India) for Qualtran Inc. for Medical trial outsourcing & BPO management. In early 2006, Mr. Mahesh C Gupta, the Vice Chairman of SMC Global Group propositioned Pankaj to start and head the Dubai operation of the group, and he consequently came to Dubai in June 2006.
Pankaj started SMC Comex in a 240 sq. ft. office in the Jewelry & Gemplex building of DMCC. Since then he has handled the operations and working of the SMC Comex name – from policies, systems and strategies, to market awareness and relationships in the region. Today, it is one of the largest financial services company in the field commodity and currency trading with the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange. The company has clientele from China, Singapore, the UK, the USA, Mauritius and Pakistan apart from its local and home-based clients.
SMC Comex’s clients are mainly composed of SME owners, professionals with an annual income of USD 150,000 and over, and non-Indian investors looking to invest in the Indian market. The wins and direction of the company in broking for DGCX and more are entirely the onus of Pankaj’s hard work and perseverance in the field along with a well-curated team.

Personally, Pankaj Gupta is a Delhi-born Master in Economics with an SAP certification for FICO/ABAP and a NCFM certification in derivative trading. He has been living in the UAE for over a decade with his wife Shalie Gupta and two children.
