Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Creek has joined Dubai Municipality’s Currency Charity Bank initiative by installing the charity box of the bank at its lobby. This is the second five-star hotel to support the charity initiative. Last month H Hotel had joined the initiative by placing a donation box of Currency Charity Bank.

The initiative aims to collect all surplus international currencies and coins from the members of the community and turn it into a fund used to support charitable projects around the world in cooperation with the Emirates Airline Foundation.

Mariam Bin Fahad, Director of Knowledge Management Department and General Supervisor of the initiative attended the inauguration ceremony at Radisson Blu Hotel in the presence of Zafair Halabi, Deputy General Manager of the hotel, Asma Yahya, Director of Government Relations in the hotel, and a number of officials of the Municipality and the hotel.

Apart from placing the donation box for surplus coins and international currencies that cannot be used within the country, the hotel has also placed a large poster explaining the idea of the initiative, in addition to showing a promotional film about the Currency Charity Bank and its role in supporting philanthropy around the world to the guests of the hotel.

Bin Fahd, who explained the objectives and the results achieved by the Currency Charity Bank, thanked the hotel officials for their support and cooperation with the initiative. “The hotels are one of the most important sources of support to the Currency Charity Bank as their customers often before checking out from the hotel leave some of the excess coins they want to get rid of. The idea of inviting the hotels to cooperate with the Currency Charity Bank came as an appropriate solution to this issue,” she said.

“We are pleased to participate in this community-based charity initiative as part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility. We will encourage hotel guests and employees to donate their global currency surpluses to contribute to supporting the needy around the world. We will also show the film about the initiative to our guests. A poster will also be placed inside the rooms to inform the guests of the initiative,” said Halabi.
