Holidays come knocking the door in July and August with children being happy. However, this also makes the mothers wonder about how to keep their enthusiastic and energetic kids engaged. The Indian Ladies Association started with a seed of thought on organizing various activities to channelize the energy of the bubbing kids. This blossomed into a series of workshops for children in association with various supporters of ILA.
Annu Chouraria, ILA President said “We at ILA have ensured to provide stimulating, social play and learning opportunities to children by providing a diverse range of activities and workshops including mental and physical activities. The objective was to provide exclusive benefits to our member kids and provide range of activities to unleash the imagination, creativity, potential of the kids. We have also ensured to cover all age groups from toddlers to teenagers ensuring a step towards holistic development and well-being. It was a small meet up for kids encouraging friendship. We shall endeavor to pursue more such activities and workshops for the welfare of next generation. We are very thankful to our partners who supported us in this initiative”.
The first of the activities started with toddlers in a 4 hour workshop at Little Buds Nursery. This included meet and greet with kids, art work, craft activity, sand play, story and popcorn time.
This was followed with a Robotics workshop conducted by Time Master, an activity that includes science, engineering, maths and arts. This was a 2 hour workshop and was very well received by the children. They created a race bot which was programmed to move into different directions.
The third activity was an energetic one being karate conducted by Oriental Karate Club and covered basic karate and self defense techniques, blocks, step sparring, kata (a set of offensive and defensive moves) and Nunchaku. Spot competitions were held and the children were rewarded too.
The next activity included instilling the art of dance through a 2 hour workshop and introduce kids to the basics of rhythm and exploring various dance techniques at Navarasa – Institute of Dance & Music. This was followed by stimulation of brain through ABACUS and learning basics of kick boxing at Shining Star Education Training.
ILA moved further by introducing another exciting Kids Club Activity for Hip Hop, Gymnastics and Get Jumping workshop at My First Gym.
Rakshita Yadav, General Secretary said “Though it is summer and so many ILA members have gone for vacation, for the members who stayed back, ILA has launched Kids Club, back to back activities. It is back to back because there is a new activity launched every week. We have provided variety so that kids can discover their key interest. We are looking forward for kids to enjoy and benefit from the activities before the school opens next month.'”
Priya Hinduja, Asst. Literary Secretary said “July, August comes with summer, but summer also brings a lot of happiness in the form of ILA kids activities. In terms of the future events, we are focusing on thoughts, positive thinking that can be imbibed in children very well from the beginning, which can make them very good future citizens. Stay tuned for more such activities in the future.”
