Steve Jobs famously said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” In order to find success, it is largely based on a combination of hard work, long hours and dedication which can take a toll on the body and mind over time. However, when passion is thrown into the mix, the stresses of the job can all be seen as worthwhile in the end. Success can be defined as the achievement of something one desires most and generally where there is passion, there is success. If you sit back and think to yourself, “I love what I do,” then you should consider yourself lucky. According to research, over fifty percent of Americans are dissatisfied with their jobs. Every career has its pros and cons, but in order to feel fulfilled it is important to have a love for what you do.

As we spend the majority of our lives at work, having passion for what you do should be the essential element you look for when choosing a career path. As Confucius once said, “Find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life.” Being given a substantial salary might have motivated you at the beginning of your career, but years down the road, passion is what you’ll need to help you get through a 48 hour (or more) work week. For those who are passionate about their job, it innately provides them with increased creativity, productivity and innovation. These people are not satisfied with being average and will continue to find ways to grow and better themselves as well as the business. If you are determined to flourish within your chosen career, be unrestrained when it comes to expressing new ideas. Constant creativity and innovativeness will skyrocket your prospects and provide you with potential unique opportunities in the future.

Unfortunately, job fulfilment is not something everyone experiences due to many settling to work in an industry they do not have interest in just to ensure they receive a steady paycheck. Even if this is the case, employees should try to take pride for the work they do as every person adds value to an organization. Sometimes finding fulfillment in doing a job well done can spark confidence in oneself which in turn can lead to passion.

Whatever it is you do, stay focused on your goals and ambitions. The more you put into your job, the closer you will be to reaching success in your career and whether you’re the CEO or a junior level employee, try to find passion in everything you do as it is essential to growing as a businessman and an individual.
