He welcomed reports that Islamabad would be opening the Sharda Peeth corridor leading to the ancient Sharda Peeth temple in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

“After the welcome announcement to open the Sharda Peeth corridor to religious pilgrims by @ImranKhanPTI, we hope the government in Pakistan will also announce the Kargil-Skardu road, as also other routes, to facilitate greater people to people contact,” the NC leader tweeted.

The decision by the Pakistan government to open the Sharda Peeth corridor addresses a longstanding demand of the Kashmiri Pandits for whom the temple of the Hindu deity, Maa Sharada (Goddess of Learning), in Shardi village near Muzaffarabad is one of the holiest shrines.
