Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, yesterday received Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, FNC, and her delegation at the Shura Council’s headquarters in Riyadh.
In a press statement after the meeting, Dr. Al Qubaisi highlighted the deep historic relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which reflect their common interests and the stance of their leaderships on Gulf, regional and international issues.
She added that the parliamentary ties between the FNC and the Shura Council are in line with the overall relations of their countries and their coordination on various issues while offering suggestions on how to meet the expectations of their nations and peoples, as a model of Arab parliamentary cooperation serving Arab and Islamic causes, especially during international parliamentary forums.
Dr. Al Qubaisi affirmed the role of parliamentarians and parliamentary diplomacy in encouraging communication between countries, peoples, civilisations and cultures, especially in light of the region’s political situation and the global dangers posed by terrorism and terrorist militias, which are tarnishing the true image of Islam.
The two parties tackled a variety of issues of mutual interest.
