Halal Food Authority Ltd becomes first UK firm to get EIAC accreditation certificate … reports Asian Lite News.
Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality and Chairman of the Emirates International Accreditation Center (EIAC) handed over a certificate of accreditation to Halal Food Authority LTD, the first organization in the UK to get Halal Certification in many areas, including all post-agriculture activities, dairy products, eggs and fish products.
The fields of accreditation for Halal certificates include long life products such as canned food, biscuits, snacks, oil, pasta, flour, sugar as well as perishable plant products of fruits, vegetables, fresh juices and preserved fruits and vegetables.
The area of accreditation is characterized by the addition of chemical and biochemical manufacturing of additives, food supplements, enzymes, agricultural means, flavors, sterilizers and food colors. The certificate of accreditation has been in compliance with the UAE standards of Halal Certification Authorities UAE.S 2055-2: 2016, GCC Standards GSO 2055-2: 2015 and Islamic countries’ standard OIC / SMIIC 2: 2011.
It is worth mentioning that the EIAC has accredited 650 assessment bodies, of which 40 are Halal certification bodies in 35 countries worldwide. The importance of developing an accreditation system to accommodate the Halal industry in food has special requirements to give the consumer the highest degree of credibility in Halal certificates.
The process of accreditation for halal food includes all elements of the food chain and production components, as well as the human element, its efficiency and its vital and effective role in the development of the quality and safety of food bearing the Halal logo because it includes the element of credibility and acceptance of the consumers.
The Halal specification compliance in terms of manufacturing methods, the components and their compliance with Islamic Shari’a standards, along with the quality and safety standards of food, contribute to stimulating international trade and avoiding trade barriers to this industry.
Thus, the system becomes international in terms of conformity and enables it to achieve global acceptance, which in turn, qualifies the accreditation system to be an active factor in halal accreditation and also realizes the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai aimed at making Dubai the hub and capital of Islamic economy.
It also contributes to supporting the economy of UAE and the Emirate of Dubai by enhancing the competitiveness of institutions operating in the Halal sector in the local, regional and global markets.
