Keralite writers showcase their talents in Sharjah

The Keralite community in the UAE witnessed a unique event in which 10 expat poets recited poems heard and unheard showcasing their creative talents.

The programme was organised by Mass Cultural Wing at Sharjah Indian Association Hall. Mr. Abdul Wahib, secretary (acting) of Mass welcomed the guests and poets and Mr. PK Ramesh, President of Mass started the program with ‘Kavyanarthaki’, a famous poem of Changampuzha Krishnan Pillai, a legendary romantic poet of Malayalam Literature.

The occasion was honoured with a big audience and the presence of 10 renowned Keralite poets which included three women poetesses.

Mr. Anil Ampat, the convenor of Mass Literary Wing introduced them to the audience and stressed on the importance of such gathering to uplift the beauty of the poems, thereby uplift humanity irrespective of cast and class in the society.

Sathyan Madakara, Ismail Melady, Sonia Shinoi, Kamaruddin Amayam, Anoop Chandran, Rajesh Chithira, Vanitha Vinod, Maneesh, Archana Nidish, Anil Palloor and Jyothikumar were participated in the event.

They recited their poems and also referred a few great influential poets like William Shakespeare. Packed audience overwhelmingly appreciated the recitation of Duniya Mikhail’s poem (Iraqi – Assyrian poetess) as well as poems of Changampuzha, Vailopilly, KG Sankara Pillai, Sachidandan, Kunchuni Maash, Balachandran Chullikad, Veeran Kutty and PK Parakkadavu. The participants provided a brief description of the creative work and its relevance in the current society.

Mass Literary Wing is keen to bring more literary figures with such noble programmes in future also, according to Mr. Ramesh, president of Mass Cultural wing.
