Dubai Municipality holds Iftar for the elderly

In conjunction with Zayed Day for Humanitarian Action, Dubai Municipality on Monday organized a group Iftar for the elderly at the Family Gathering Center, previously known as Elders’ Relaxation Centre, in the presence of Humaid Al Qattami, Director General of Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, in addition to a number of leaders and employees of the Municipality.

Al Qattami said that DHA’s activities to commemorate the 14th death anniversary of Sheikh Zayed have extended to this elderly happiness center. “DHA has joined with Dubai Municipality on this commemoration by organizing a group Iftar for the elderly and all staff of the Family Gathering Center. It is a reiteration of a group of authentic values derived from the Sheikh Zayed approach, especially those related to compassion and interaction with older parents who are affiliated with the Center,” he pointed out.

He stressed that the comprehensive care of the elderly was a consistent approach in the mind of Sheikh Zayed, and that the DHA derives from his ideas the rules of work and the principles on dealing with the elderly, especially as they are used to enjoy the care of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Al Qattami said DHA is keen to strengthen its partnership with all government and private establishments to serve the social and developmental objectives of Dubai.

He also praised Dubai Municipality, which is a strategic partner of DHA, and one of the important departments connecting with DHA with fruitful relationship of cooperation.

Al Hajiri said the event comes within the framework of promoting the humanitarian thought of the late Sheikh Zayed, as the many humanitarian situations in which he demonstrated his authentic human approach, is the source of inspiration for all in doing good and compassion and giving.

He said Sheikh Zayed’s unique journey was overflowing with love and he extended a helping hand to every needy person inside and outside the country.

Al Hajiri pointed out that the harmony and interaction with the elderly who have spent their lives in the service of the homeland is a true reflection of Zayed’s approach to humanitarian action and the support to the humanitarian initiatives is only a confirmation of commitment to this approach.

The initiative witnessed the participation of 50 elderly men and women. During the event, gifts were presented to them in a beautiful family atmosphere filled with joy and pleasure. Dialogue sessions were held with the elderly, during which they recollected sayings and memories of the late Sheikh Zayed, who has always been associated with charity and giving and humanitarian work.

The Iftar was part of Dubai Municipality’s humanitarian initiatives for the elderly as an important group in the society, who have contributed to building the nation, and its prosperity. It was also to remember Sheikh Zayed, who was the most prominent example in spreading love, humanity and helping others.
