At a press conference on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said they have just 20 days to prepare after Trump announced Vietnam’s capital Hanoi as the meeting venue, while Singapore had nearly two months to prepare for the first US-North Korea summit last June.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has also directed ministries and sectors to do their utmost to ensure security and safety for the summit to make it a success.

Special attention should be paid to the reception work, the Prime Minister said, stressing the need to create maximum conditions for international reporters to cover the event.

At the summit, Trump and Kim will meet one-on-one. The White House has not made Trump’s agenda public yet.

In Singapore, the leaders spoke privately for 38 minutes before the formal talks between the full delegations, sparking speculation about the content of Trump’s conversation with Kim.
