The 3-day film festival organised by Kerala Social Centre began yesterday with the screening of film made by the renowned film maker Padmashri Girish Kasaravalli.
Sudhir Kumar Shetty, Vice President of UAE exchange inaugurated the event Friday evening. A.K. Beeran Kutty, President of the KSC, presided over the event.
Sarvotham Shetty, K.K. Moideen Koya, Director of UAE Exchange Media Division, Bijith Kumar, General Secretary of KSC, Basheer Samshad, treasurer delivered speeches during the occasion.
Film maker, Girish Kasaravalli was honoured and presented with mementos by Abu Dhabi Kannada delegation and on behalf of KSC by A. K. Beeran Kutty.
Girish Kasaravalli spoke to the audience describing his journey in the film industry. Liji Shamnad was the moderator.
To pay tribute to the legacy of the father of the Nation the late Shiekh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, KSC began screening with ‘ESTIMRARIYA’, a short film written and directed by Ullas R Koya.
The film features noted businessman and philanthropist Padmashri Dr B. R. Shetty, who plays the role of an elderly Arab citizen teaching his granddaughter about virtues inherited from the founding father of the Nation.
Apart from ‘Dweepa’, the National award winning films such as ‘Riding the Stallion of a Dream’ is to be screened during the following days. After the screening there will also be discussions with the audience.
