The Muslim World League has said that the recognition of Al Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel is a dangerous step that contravenes the historic rights of the Palestinian people in the city and the international resolutions in this regard.

In a statement, Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, said that any such decision will face great Islamic anger and opens serious repercussions, and that the simplest expression of this step is that it enters the issue of Al Quds which is of key significance to the conscience of Muslims, thereby creating complex problems that would have an effect on the principle of non-influence on the final status negotiations.

He added that the League – as an umbrella for the Islamic peoples – confirms that Al Quds represents in the Islamic sense an important issue that can be dealt with only through a just and fair solution that preserves history and the acknowledges the right to put things in perspective, without any negative bias or serious complications.
