42nd Annual Gala Day of Indian Ladies Association

Indian Ladies Association celebrated their most awaited 42nd Annual Gala Day at Al Qasr Ballroom, Hilton Abu Dhabi on Friday 11th May 2018. This day marked the 42nd Anniversary of the Association which was established in 1976 by Mrs. Salma Ansari, wife of the then Ambassador of India to UAE. ILA is the only registered Indian association for women in Abu Dhabi and has continued to be a premier socio cultural forum for ladies. Since its inception, many dignitaries have graced ILA including Late Prime Minister of India – Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Late President of India – Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Dr. Kiran Bedi- IPS Officer and many others officials and Bollywood Stars.

Indian Ladies Association (ILA) celebrated its 42nd Annual Day Gala with H.E. Navdeep Singh Suri, the Indian Ambassador to UAE and the first lady Madam Mani Suri as guests of honour. The theme of the evening was Glitterati, an evening of Glitz and Glamour. The hall was studded with gathering of star studded guests enjoying the evening to its best.

The President of ILA, Mrs. Annu Chouraria commenced the evening with a Welcome address to everyone. “We embark on the new year with a vision of ‘One Team, One Dream’, I believe that we can be one, working in unison for a common goal. Let us all solemnize this spirit of womanhood together – the hand that rocks the cradle is the one that hold generations together” she said.

Mrs. Chouraria also extended her sincerest gratitude for the invaluable patronage of ILA supporters and well wishers. “We take humble pride in the realization that many of you have been our members and continued to be part of ILA family. Thanks to all of you for the belief that our excellence of today, can and shall be surpassed by higher standards and achievements tomorrow in the service of you all,” she said.

ILA is an incredible platform and I am confident that with the collective efforts of the managing committee, ILA will continue to grow as the premiere Association we know it to be. With this note she also introduced the current team of ILA and mentioned that the present committee is dedicated to the enrichment of ILA and building the legacy further.

The event commenced on a solemn note with the prayer song and lighting of the lamp by the First Lady, Madam Mani Suri. It was followed by Cake Cutting by His Excellency, Navdeep Suri who congratulated ILA on its 42nd year with best wishes. The audience were enthralled to see the brief video about the genesis and highlights of ILA.

The event also witnessed the launch of the Association’s annual magazine titled ‘Jyoti’. “Jyoti is a real platform to showcase talents of ILA members, to voice, vent their passion for writing and to encourage imaginative thinking and it also have articles for everyone to read and enjoy,” said Literary Secretary, Mrs. Saloni Saraogi.

The cultural programs began soon afterwards and it was treat to watch the immensely talented ladies of ILA singing and dancing impeccably. “We have put our best in creating this evening of glitz and glamor to entertain you all. The series of programs coming up has a message for all of us starting from Indian culture of Ghoomar, to a fusion of Indo Western and an Odyssey to Womenhood” said Entertainment Secretary, Mrs. Tanu Kaushal. The odyssey to womanhood program was a thought provoking one, which informed the audience that just like universe is composed of five elements, women too is composed of five main emotions and it was beautifully depicted. The kids also welcomed everyone in a swag and the evening saw bursting talents of ILA on stage.

The event had fun elements of spot prizes and raffles. The winners walked away with gold coins, pendants, vouchers for dinning, furnishing, clothing, watches, perfumes and many others.

The event came to an end late in the evening and General Secretary of ILA, Mrs. Rakshita Yadav gave the vote of thanks and took the opportunity to thank guests of honour, members and audience for coming to make the event a great success. “I am overwhelmed with the presence of you all in making this event a grand success and with immense pride we thank all our sponsors, supporters and members. We are honored that the efforts have been fruitful and everyone enjoyed the day,” she said.
