Dubai Municipality has launched a Happiness Platform on the Jumeirah-3 Beach, which allows visitors to practice recreational fishing in a positive and stimulating atmosphere.

Alia Al Harmoudi, Director of the Environment Department in Dubai Municipality, said that the idea of the initiative was to provide a 125-metre-long platform in an area of 625sqm with a distinctive design and attractive colours that appeal to beach travellers of all ages.

The platform is equipped with environment-friendly solar-powered lighting poles so that the public can visit the platform at any time.

She added that as part of the municipality’s keenness to encourage the community to read, a beach library has been provided at the platform to allow the public to enjoy reading in a distinctive atmosphere. The library is equipped with books that suit all ages and interests.

“This is one of the beach libraries on the public beaches of the emirate in Al Mamzar Corniche Beach, Jumeirah Beach and Umm Suqeim Beach, especially as these beaches attract a large numbers of visitors annually and in all seasons of the year, which makes them among the ideal locations that contribute to achieving the directives of the leadership in promoting reading as a national and government priority and a basic development requirement while at the same time giving the beaches of Dubai educational and cultural dimensions,” she said.

Al Harmoudi said that Dubai Municipality is concerned with all the segments of the society and its categories, and invests in providing all its needs, therefore, the design of the platform was considered to be suitable for the People of Determination and the elderly.

The platform is the first location in Dubai where people of determination and the elderly can practice recreational fishing as a hobby.
