Dubai Municipality on Thursday discussed enhancement of control measures on food import from the United Kingdom. Dr. Essam Sharaf Al Hashimi, Head of Food Trade Control Section, met with Adel Khan, Trade and Investment Advisor for International Trade at the British Embassy, to discuss the enhancement of food protection and control measures in Dubai.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the Municipality and the international trade sector in the British Embassy and ways of enhancing the requirements of the Emirate of Dubai from the suppliers of foodstuffs imported to the Emirate as well as other issues of mutual cooperation in the field of food protection and public health.

Al Hashimi briefed the British official on the food file in the Municipality and the initiative for imposing control from the source on all materials imported to the emirate.

He also reviewed the food trade statistics between Dubai and Britain and also how to simplify the emirate’s requirements for food shipments from Britain.

Al Hashimi praised the cooperation between the British Embassy and Dubai Municipality in the field of food control and public health protection taking into account the regulations and systems in force in the country to protect public health and control the imported materials and their safety and the safety of its traders.
