More than 100 people gathered in Gurudwara Dubai for Iftar last Monday, May 21. Gurudwara Dubai has been hosting Iftar get together every year since 2013 and has welcomed not only Muslims but also communities from neighboring Churches. It was a wonderful scene seeing people of different nationalities and of various faiths joined together and enjoying Iftar in celebration of Ramadan.

The event was attended by dignitaries and diplomats. Among them were H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, H.E. Mr. Vipul, Indian Consul General, and H.E. Mr. Paul Malik, U.S. Consul General. H.E. Mr. Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the Office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, Patron of Indian Business & Professional Council was also present. Dr. Omar Al-Muthanna, CEO of Licensing and Monitoring Sector at Community Development Authority also attended the event. Other special guests were Mr. Abdul Hadi of Al Manar Islamic Center, Fr. Mina Hanna of Coptic Church Dubai and Fr. Tim Heanney of Christ Church Jebel Ali.

Messages of friendship and acceptance were given during the speeches and Maghrib prayers were held inside the Gurudwara premises. Mr. Surender Kandhari thanked everyone for always accepting Gurudwara’s Iftar invitation and looks forward to more inter-faith gatherings that will further nourish friendship among everyone.
