Tens of thousands of devotees of Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai celebrated Baisakhi last April 13, Friday and April 14, Saturday.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, Patron of Indian Business and Professional Council, and H.E. Mr. Vipul, Consul General, Indian Consulate, Dubai, UAE.
Other guests were Mr. Jeffrey H. Singer, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Abu Dhabi Stake and wife Mrs. Sandra Singer. Also present is Ramesh Singh Khalsa Patron in Chief of Pakistan Sikh Council.
The guests of honor gave warm greetings and wished the congregation a happy Baisakhi. H.E. Mr. Navdeep Singh Suri reminded everyone to obey and follow the rules of the country while keeping and practicing the rich culture of Sikhs.
While H.E. Mr. Mirza Al Sayegh said in his remarks that the relationship between the UAE and India is getting closer than before as showcased in the visit of India’s Prime Minister Honorable Narendra Modi to the UAE twice as well as the two visits to India of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Finally, The Consul General of India to UAE, Mr. Vipul, took this opportunity to address and inform everyone that the Indian Consulate is always available and ready to provide assistance to all Indian expats.

Kirtan began at 10 in the morning and continued until 9.00 in the evening on both days. A tent was temporarily set up outside the temple to accommodate the huge crowd for langar.
Management and volunteers of Gurudwara Dubai headed by Mr. Surender Singh Kandhari, Chairman, and Mrs. Bubbles Kandhari, Vice Chairperson, spearheaded organizing the 2-day celebrations. Similar to most festivals everyone were happily exchanging greetings and grateful to be given the opportunity to express their faith and traditions in the UAE.
