Saudi Airlines to service Karipur airport

Saudi Airlines has got permission to service Karipur airport. Saudi Airlines had earlier asked for permission to allow their wide body aircraft to service the airport, the airport authority gave the permission after getting final approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCI).

For wide body aircrafts to resume services at Karipur airport in Calicut, the airport had restructured its runways. Many MPs from Malabar had met the aviation minister and asked for his help in getting approvals.

Organisations such as MDF (Malabar Development Forum) also raised awareness and campaigned for the cause.

In order to study the landing of wide body aircrafts, a special team from Air India had arrived at the airport on Monday. The team comprised mainly of the officials from Air India office in Mumbai.
