UAE hosts UAE-Japan Investment Forum

ACCI, DED-Ajman and JETRO organise UAE-Japan Investment Forum 2018 … reports Asian Lite News.

The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI, and the Department of Economic Development in Ajman organised the UAE-Japan Investment Forum in cooperation with the Japan External Trade Organisation, JETRO.

The forum is aimed at opening new skylines of cooperation between the two parties, and to explore the important economic opportunities available, thus increasing the trade volume and partnerships in the future between the public and private sectors of both countries.

Present at the forum were Masami Ando, Managing Director of JETRO; Mohammad Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director of Investment and Business Development Division; Nasser Al-Dhafri, Executive Director of Planning and Support Division at ACCI; representatives of the concerned government entities in Ajman, and a number of businessmen and investors.

Ali Essa Al Nuaimi, Director-General of DED-Ajman, stated, “The UAE-Japan Investment Forum, JETRO-2018, is a true translation of the strong economic relations between the Emirati and Japanese business communities, providing a strategic platform to explore the prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the economic and industrial sectors that boost the development process.”

“Through the forum, which is the product of cooperation with the Ajman Chamber, we look forward to attracting more foreign direct investment from Japan and encouraging industrial investments, while activating the role of the private sector in driving economic development,” he added.

Al Nuaimi continued, “We are committed to continuing the development of economic policies that enhance the investment and commercial activities. In addition, we strive to provide the best services for regional and international investors in order to enhance the business and investment climate in the emirate of Ajman, which possesses powerful competitive and attractive investment assets. We are confident that the Forum will produce significant results that will serve our efforts to build a prosperous and sustainable economy marked by diversity and competitiveness in line with Ajman vision-2021.”

Al Janahi stressed that the forum serves as an important chance to establish a direct and effective communication channel between the Emirati and Japanese officials and businessmen and to sustain the strong and solid relations between the two countries at all levels.

He said, “There is no doubt that the forum represents an important step to enlarge the cooperation and partnership among all the attendees, exchange experiences and benefit from the available possibilities. It is also an opportunity to explore the most important elements and investment opportunities that can be optimised in the future and to open new skylines to the private sector in various fields.”

He explained that the statistics on the volume of trade exchange between the UAE and Japan affirm the strength of the economic ties between the two countries. The trade volume reached AED51 billion according to the statistics from 2016, he added.

Al Janahi continued, “Today’s forum translates the keenness of the emirate of Ajman, particularly Ajman Chamber, to enhance the international cooperation in line with the aspirations of traders and businessmen. In addition, it reflects the interest and guidance of our leadership in line with the Ajman-2021, and ensures the development and sustainability of all sectors, especially the economic one.”

The forum further featured an overview of Ajman’s economy, facilities, flexibility and the quick procedures provided for the business community. This was followed by a presentation that introduced the services offered by the ACCI, DED, DTD and AFZ to businessmen and investors.

JETRO’s delegation introduced the most important advantages and opportunities that can be optimised to increase the cooperation between Japan and Ajman. At the conclusion of the forum, Al Janahi presented Ando with the shield of the Ajman Chamber.
