Thousands attended the Iftar organised by the Indian Islamic Center in Ab Dhabi

Thousands attended the Iftar organised by the Indian Islamic Center in Ab Dhabi. The center’s main hall and two floors, in addition to other places were filled with participants.IIS President Bava Haji presided over the event. General Secretary MPM Rasheed welcomed the gathering. Vice President Abdul Salam deliver vote of thanks. New Zealand Ambassador Matthew Hawkins was the chief guest. Ustad Sinsarul Haq Hudavi, the Deputy Chief of Mission Embassy of India Smita Pant, Captain Khalid Abdulla Ahmed Al Hammadi, Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Security, were present.

The presence of Ambassador Hawkins was the highlight of the event. He praised the Muslims for their dedication and commitment to peace.

“New Zealand is a symbol of tolerance and the envoy’s presence is an honour to all of us,” said Mr Rashid in his welcome speech. “Christchurch attack was a testing episode and we are grateful to the New Zealand leadership for supporting the Muslim community during one of their difficult periods in the history.”

Ambassador Hawkins later thanked Bava Haji and other IIC volunteers for thei invitation and lauded their effort to organise one of the best events in Abu Dhabi.
