Oman Issues New RO 50 Notes

Oman's New RO 50 Notes.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Modern Omani Renaissance and in commemoration of the memory of its founder late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Bin Taimour, and his notable accomplishments, the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) issued a new RO 50 banknote in its sixth series, which will begin circulating as legal tender this month.

CBO will also issue under its sixth series of new banknotes of all other denominations currently in circulation during the last quarter of 2020. These denominations include RO 20, RO 10, RO 5, RO 1, RO ½ and 100 Baisa.

CBO is currently configuring ATM and CDM machines to be compatible with the new banknotes, in cooperation with local banks.

RO 50 note will be of the size: 76mm x 173mm and its colour will be green.

The front portion of the note will bear a portrait of the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said,
the façade of the Central Bank of Oman building and signature of the Deputy Chairman of CBO’s Board of Governors.

Its backside will portray the facades of the Council of Oman, the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Finance, an official press release said.
