Arab League Welcomes UN Report On Saudi Attacks

July 15, 2020

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, welcomed a recent United Nations report which implicates Iran’s involvement in attacks in Saudi soil.

The report issued by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres looks into the attacks on oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, as well as Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia in 2019.

Aboul Gheit said in a statement today “The report issued by UN Secretary-General supports numerous evidence that pointed the finger at Iran as being involved in these terrorist attacks, and others in the Arab Gulf, as well as Yemen, stressing the necessity that the international community should hold Iran fully responsible for the consequences of these dangerous destabilizing actions in the region, especially after it has been proven with certainty that the weapons used in these attacks are of Iranian origin.”

On the other hand, Iran has outrightly rejected the UN report. It accuses that the report portrays US plots and is drawn up under pressure from the US and Saudi Arabia.
