The worldwide number of COVID-19 cases is swiftly running up to 13 Million, according to the Johns Hopkins University. The number of deaths also has increased to more than 5,68,000.
As of Monday morning, the total number of cases stood at 1,28,72,434, while the fatalities rose to 5,68,296, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
The US accounted for the world’s highest number of infections and fatalities at 33,02,665 and 1,35,176, respectively, according to the CSSE.
Brazil came in second place with 1,864,681 infections and 72,100 deaths.
In terms of cases, India ranks third (8,49,553), and is followed by Russia (7,26,036), Peru (3,26,326), Chile (3,15,041), Mexico (2,99,750), the UK (2,91,154), South Africa (2,76,242), Iran (2,57,303), Spain (2,53,908), Pakistan (2,48,872), Italy (2,43,061), Saudi Arabia (2,32,259), Turkey (2,12,993), France (2,08,015), Germany (1,99,919), Bangladesh (1,83,795), Colombia (1,45,362), Canada (1,09,348), Qatar (1,03,598) and Argentina (1,00,166), the CSSE figures showed.
The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are the UK (44,904), Mexico (35,006), Italy (34,954), France (30,007), Spain (28,403), India (22,674), Iran (12,829), Peru (11,870) and Russia (11,318).
