Global Covid Count At 10.8 Mn: Johns Hopkins University

According to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, the overall number of global COVID-19 cases has increased to over 10.8 million, while the deaths have soared to more than 5,20,000.

As of Friday morning, the total number of cases increased to 10,842,615, while the fatalities stood at to 5,20,785, the CSSE revealed in its latest update.

The US accounted for the world’s highest number of infections and fatalities with 27,39,230 and 128,743, respectively, according to the CSSE.

Brazil came in the second place with 14,96,858 infections and 61,884 deaths.

In terms of cases, Russia ranks third (6,60,231), and is followed by India (6,04,641), Peru (2,92,004), the UK (2,85,268), Chile (2,84,541), Spain (2,50,103), Italy (2,40,961), Mexico (2,38,511), Iran (2,32,863), Pakistan (2,17,809), France (2,03,640), Turkey (2,02,284), Saudi Arabia (1,97,608), Germany (1,96,370), South Africa (1,68,061), Bangladesh (1,53,277) and Canada (1,06,643), the CSSE figures showed.

The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are the UK (44,080), Italy (34,818), France (29,878), Mexico (29,189), Spain (28,368), India (17,834) and Iran (11,106).
