The Indian Ambassador to UAE, Mr Navdeep Singh Suri is encouraging Indians and Indian organisations to make use of opportunities provided by the amnesty issued by the UAE government.

A meeting was conducted in the Abu Dhabi embassy in relation to amnesty which was attended by representatives from Indian organisations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The amnesty gives the opportunity for Indians in UAE to legalise their stay here or exit to India without incurring any fines.

“There are a lot of Indians who due to various reasons have become illegal residents in the country. Organisations in the UAE, especially the Indian organisations can play a big part in encouraging the Indians to make use of the opportunity,” said the Indian Ambassador.

“If Indians requiring the help of amnesty are found and their details brought to the embassy, the procedures could be completed easily,” he added.

“People will benefit if a dedicated number is provided by the organisations to give details regarding the amnesty. The maximum amount of people should be able to live in the UAE legally. If the situation does not permit, they can make use of the opportunity to return to India,” added the Indian Ambasador.

The Indian Ambassador also informed the representatives of various organisations the need for raising awareness regarding the amnesty in different languages to reach the maximum audience.

Abu Dhabi India Social Center, Kerala Social Center, Malayali Samajam, Indian Islamic Center, Al Ain Indian Social Center were among the 30 organisations that attended the meeting.
