London-based international newspaper Asian Lite unveils a Gulf edition for the Middle Eastern readers. This is Asian Lite’s first international edition outside Britain.

The edition was launched at an elegant ceremony in Dubai in the presence of community leaders, diplomats and prominent business personalities. Veteran Indian journalist Mr Bikram Vohra will be the editor of the Dubai edition. India Club Chairman Vasu Shroff, ITL-Cosmos Group Chairman Dr Ram Buxani,  Dr Rami Ranger CBE, chairman of London-based Sun Mark Group, were present at the inaugural ceremony.

Azeez, the Managing Editor, said the Gulf edition will focus on the needs of the thriving Asian, especially Indian, communities in the Middle East.

“Asian Lite will be the first TraDigital Media in the region,” said Azeez. “Besides traditional tabloid print version, there will be strong presence in online and social media platforms like What’sAPP, YouTube and Facebook.”

“A newspaper focussing on Indian affairs in the Middle East is essential as India is gaining more prominence in various sectors, especially economy and research,” Azeez added. “The second visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi fuels new hope in relations between UAE, Oman and other Gulf countries. Asian Lite will be a medium to cement relations between India and other Gulf countries.”

Mr Bikram Vohra, the senior most Indian editor in the Gulf, said a traditional newspaper has more relevance as the industry under turmoil with the sprout of fake news sources.

“Internet opened a floodgate of alternative news platforms,” said Mr Vohra. “A meticulous research is needed to verify the authenticity of every story. Traditional media platforms are following the rules of the game despite the market conditions.”

Asian Lite will produce fortnightly editions with majority news contents from the Middle East. There will be separate sections for business, Bollywood, fashion, sport and health. A Besides a print edition, the newspaper will release regular digital editions and daily newsletters.
