Dubai Municipality to relocate 4,000 workers to new homes in Al Warsan this year … reports Asian Lite News.
Dubai Municipality will relocate more than 4,000 of its workers to their new homes with international housing standards in Al Warsan during this year. On the occasion of the International Worker’s Day, Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality honored the distinguished workers in the Municipality who were chosen by their departments for their work excellence and commitment to the rules and regulations of the Municipality. The ceremony was also attended by the assistants to the Director General, directors of departments and heads of sections.
Every year on May 1, Dubai Municipality participates in the International Worker’s Day celebrations in recognition and appreciation of the achievements and the active and pioneering role of the workers in the service of the country and its advancement in the industrial, architectural and agricultural fields of work to stand proud of their contribution to the prosperity of the society and what they have achieved by their sweat and effort, hard work and dedication to accomplish a bright future for the nation.
Khalid Hassan Ali Al Marzouqi, Deputy Chairman of the International Worker’s Day Team said the celebration of this year’s workers’ day is taking place in an atmosphere marked by the important steps taken by the UAE in general and the Emirate of Dubai in particular for the benefit of the workers.
The Municipality, within the framework of its new strategy 2021 to bring happiness to all, has taken into account the requirements of the working class. Throughout the year, the Municipality conducts activities for the recreation of workers, as it undertakes recreational trips for them at different times and places. The Municipality distributes gifts to them in cooperation and coordination with companies and institutions that support this category. The Director General also sends more than 100 workers annually to perform Umrah on the occasion of International Worker’s Day. A batch of 138 workers performed Umrah last week.
The Municipality conducts several programs for its workers and the most prominent is the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council called, “We Care for Our Workers’ Health.” It also holds a Workers’ Iftar, in which Iftar kits are distributed to 8,000 workers per day during the holy month, and one day the senior leadership of the Municipality also joins the workers in the Iftar party. In a separate initiative, the Municipality honoured 3,140 workers last year, as well as distributed 5,000 gifts in cooperation with private companies. The honoring ceremony included a film about the workers and their achievements.
Al Hajiri also honored the supporters of the Municipality workers such as the Zabeel Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which contributed with the Iftar of 4,250 workers a day, as an honor from Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Jumaa Al Maktoum, Wife of the Ruler of Dubai. He also honored the UAE Red Crescent Society for providing gifts and donations in-kind to workers throughout the year, as well as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment for providing 700 Iftars daily and also for sending 30 workers to perform Umrah this year. He also honored the Radisson Blu Hotel for providing 4,700 gifts for Municipality workers and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department for providing 700 Iftars daily for workers as well as the UAE Food Bank for providing food for workers throughout the year.
