Saudi Urges Political Solution In Syria

June 30, 2020

Addressing  the fourth edition of the Brussels conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region,” Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister urged a political solution to the Syrian crisis, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254 and the First Geneva conference.

“A political solution is the only way to reach a real and lasting solution to the conflict in Syria”, said His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdulla.

The conference,  which was held via videoconference, was co-chaired by High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Commission Josep Borrell and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordination Mark Lowcock, with the participation of 80 delegates from more than 60 countries and a dozen international organizations, reports Bahrain News Agency.

He warned against  the serious repercussions of the crisis  on the Syrian people as well as the security and stability of the region and the world.

He pointed that Iran  continues to pose a major threat to the future of Syria and its national identity, adding that Tehran regimes seek regional dominance by using sectarian militias and provoking devastating civil wars.
