The Man, The Myth, The Legend The Icon of Stage and Screen Zia Mohyeddin to perform in Dubai on 29th November at Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah. The Pakistani community in Dubai will honour the legendary cultural icon with a special Lifetime Achievement Award
Pakistani legend Zia Mohyeddin will take the stage at the prestigious Madinat Theater, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, on 29th November for an evening of sublime prose and poetry.
Brought to the region by Poetic Strokes and well-known event organiser Ambika Vohra, this one-of-a-kind event is being held under the canopy of Sounds of the Soil – a series of creative collaborations that are designed to bring the finest classical entertainment for the UAE’s discerning audience. These include musical evenings, art and culture talks, poetry recitals, book readings, theatre and dance.
“Zia Mohyeddin is a living legend revered for his readings of Urdu letters and literature and we are honored to be bringing him to the UAE,” said Ayesha Imtiaz, founding Director of Poetic Strokes. “Credited with taking the art of recitation to unprecedented heights, his performance, which will include narration of poetry and prose, marked by an astute mastery of style, tone, and rhythm, is certain to enchant and delight Dubai’s discerning audience.”
The organisers have also announced that a special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to the grand man of stage and screen at the end of the evening. This award will be given to him for his enormous and continuous contribution towards literature, art and theatre, on behalf of the Pakistani Community based in the UAE.
The Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, Mr. Moazzam Ahmed Khan will present the award, sharing the stage with the heads of Pakistan Association Dubai, Pakistan Professional Wing and Pakistan Business Council.
“When he speaks with gravity, the crowd listens intently. When he is in a jovial mood, they respond with roars of laughter. I am confident that once again he will show us all why he is hailed as the most consequential orator of our times and why with decades going by, we are yet to see anyone come even closer to the hallmark of what he is all about,” added Ambika Vohra, one of the organizers.
