‘Al Riyadh’ newspaper issues special edition to mark UAE’s 47th National Day … reports Asian Lite News.
The Saudi newspaper, ‘Al Riyadh’, issued a special edition in celebration with the Emirati people of the UAE’s 47th National Day celebrations, which also coincides with the Year of Zayed.
It also highlighted the dream of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his efforts to create the Union on 2nd December 1971, establishing the most successful union in the world.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, wrote the edition’s opening article, entitled, “The Year of Zayed: The Year of Unity.”
Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the country’s achievements and journey, and how Sheikh Zayed was keen to establish the Union and turn his dream into reality.
“When Emirati people think of the 2nd December, they think about the dream of our ancestors during a time of scarcity, as a man from the desert was dreaming of uniting the emirates of the Gulf coast,” Sheikh Abdullah said.
He also pointed out the strong ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia and their solidarity, which make their alliance a source of the region’s stability, while highlighting the strong relations between their leadership and peoples.
The newspaper included an interview with Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, who highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, also wrote an article, entitled, “The UAE Relations with its Gulf and Arab Neighbours: A Key Priority with the Same Degree of Openness and Cooperation with the Islamic World.”
The edition also included a statement from Dr. Abdullatif Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, who said that the UAE’s celebration of its National Day is a celebration for all citizens of GCC countries.
Lt. General Dhahi bin Khalfan bin Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai, wrote an article about the successful experience of the Union, and the newspaper also published an article by Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Media Corporation, entitled, “Saudi Arabia and the UAE: A Long History of Brotherhood and Joint Action.”
The first page of the newspaper was written under the headline, “Saudi-Emirati Ties: Relations of Brothers and Solidarity of Loyal People.” It also included a detailed report, written by Dr. Ali Al Qaheet, Regional Director of Al Riyadh in the UAE, in which he highlighted the importance of the UAE’s National Day, which is precious to both Emiratis and the Saudi people, in light of the importance of their ties and their influence in the Arab and Islamic region.
Saud bin Fahad Al Suwailam, Charge D’Affaires at the Saudi Embassy in the UAE, wrote an article, entitled, “Saudi Arabia and the UAE Together.”
The newspaper published an article by Dr. Ibtissam Al Katbi, Chairperson of the Emirates Policy Centre, entitled, “Long Live the Union of our UAE, and may Saudi Arabia always be prosperous.”
The newspaper also published a greeting to the leadership and people of the UAE on their national occasion.
