In celebration of the World Sikh Environment Day and the Sikh New Year, Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara Dubai will be distributing 2000 plant saplings at the Delhi Private School Jebel Ali Dubai on Sunday, March 18. This event is in line with The Year of Zayed, commemorating the life, values and achievements of Baba Zayed, a true champion of environment protection. Taking care of the environment is part of the Sikh Ethos that Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara Dubai hope to remind today’s younger generation. And with the support of Delhi Private School, this initiative aims to promote sustainability through environmental protection activities.

The event is to be attended by prominent government officials and members of the diplomatic corps. Distribution of the plant saplings will commence at 9am and will continue the whole day until all 2000 saplings are distributed.

This is also an official Guinness World Records attempt for ‘Largest Distribution of Saplings’

About Gurudwara

On 17th January 2012, the Gulf region’s largest and world’s most modern Gurudwara was declared open for over 50,000 Sikh devotees in the UAE.  Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai is a multi-storey facility spread over 100,000 sq. ft. building area with a 140-car capacity basement parking, situated in Jebel Ali Village. Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai is the first Gurudwara in the world to receive ISO Standard Certifications – ISO 9001 for Quality Management Standard, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Standard, ISO 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Standard and ISO 22000 for Food Safety Management Standard.

The Gurudwara management is composed of Surender Singh Kandhari as Chairman, Bubbles Kandhari as Vice Chairperson, and a Board of Trustees. Temple administration and operations are overseen by general managers, employees, and pool of volunteers.
