Eid in Ponnonam programme, held under the theme, ‘Wiping tears of Kerala’, organised by Darshana UAE, has become a novel experience for the UAE residents.

After covering the expenses of the event organised by Darshana with the support of Indian Association Sharjah, the amount collected is going to be given back to the residents of Kerala.

The event was inaugurated at the Association’s community hall, by President, E. P. Johnson. Salam Pappinissery presided over the event. Swami Ritambananda from Sivagiri Ashram gave an enlightenment speech.

Abdullah Mallasherry, K. Balakrishnan, S. Mohammed Jabir, Advocate Santhosh K. Nair, Vinod Nambiar and Mahadevan gave greetings during the occasion. Punakkan Mohammed Ali delivered the introductory speech and C. P. Jaleel gave the welcome speech. The vote of thanks was given by T. P. Ashraf.

The prominent personalities who have excelled in their respective fields, was honoured by Darshana’s excellence awards. The awards were delivered by UAE national and social worker, Amal Lari.

Muneer Kavungal Parambil, Vinod Nambiar, Manoj, Patma, Jakey Rahman, Radhakrishnan Machingal, Hassan Mahi, Jamal Kuttiadi were the recipients of the awards.

Sheela Paul, Yassar Kozhikode, Muneer Kumbala, Faisal K. Kozhikode, Arif Trithaala, Gejo Jacob, K. V. Faisal, Firoze Tamanna, Punnakan Beeran, Mustafa, K. D. P. Ibraheem and C. P. Mustafa gave the recipients of the awards, ‘Ponnada’ and letter of appreciation.

The awards for the best organisations in the U.A.E was received by Sharjah Indian Association and M. S. S. Dubai. A song concert led by Cinema background singer, Anwar Sadat was also held during the occasion.
